NEW ORLEANS ATHLETIC CLUB

Old World Athletic Style

Since its doors opened in 1872, the New Orleans Athletic Club has offered a private world of athletic pursuits and social interaction in the French Quarter. Few cities offer such a rich tradition as does New Orleans and the NOAC is a logical fit within the cultural fabric. The club began as the Young Men’s Gymnastics club in the 19th century and slowly evolved into what exists today.

Housed behind a grand stone façade, NOAC is an immersive experience from the moment one enters. The wood paneled library is filled with an array of oxblood leather chairs, portraits of notable members, and a selection of the great newspaper publications of the world. As you delve further into its heart, the aura of times past envelops you. Grand ballrooms with massive chandeliers serve as an elegant backdrop to various classes of yoga, dance, and even fencing.

The dramatic swimming pool is lined by Greek columns and marble as far as the eye can see. Members enjoy the latest in exercise equipment, secluded steam rooms, and cedar-lined dry saunas.

The mahogany-lined bar is a perfect compliment to the private club atmosphere, offering signature New Orleans libations and a hushed aura for members (and their guests) to discuss the matters of the day and transact discrete business dealings.

While being members-only and exuding a quite elegance, membership is open to all and attracts a diverse range of local New Orleanians as well as notable personalities that pass through town for business, film productions, and athletic events. Don’t be surprised to find yourself exercising, or taking a steam, next to celebrities or diplomats.
